Hey Everyone,
My name is Rebecca Hankey and I am happy to be your Region eight vice-director this year. I am sixteen-years-old and a sophomore at Centurus High School. I starting riding Arabians when I was five-years-old, when my family moved out to Colorado from New York. From then I rode horses with my cousin, but did not start training until I had the opportunity to train with Diane Underwood. She opened up the world of competitive showing and taught me everything I know! Ever since then I have been showing and working horses while working at Flatiron Springs. I have been riding the same mare, Justa Covergirl JA (Justy), since she was four and we have grown up together! She is now twelve and I took her to youth last year and I’m hoping to again this year. Currently I am riding hunt seat equitation and some pleasure, although I have ridden western before and a little saddle seat I ride hunter mostly because I am best at it and it is the least expensive of the three. I am really hoping to help with Region eight. If you have any questions or need to get a hold of me, my email is justacovergirl@aol.com.
Thanks, I look forward to getting to know you all!

Hello everyone!

My name is Barbie Wittenberg and I'm thrilled to be your Region 8 Youth Director.  Riding horses has always been a passion of mine and I'm so excited to be able to make a difference and be a leader for Region 8 kids.
I live in Lafayette Colorado and I'm in my senior year at Holy Family High School. Im busy with school and getting plans together for next year but horses are my first priority.  I have participated in various riding styles with different breeds but when I was introduced to the Arabian world I knew this is where I fit.  I ride at Flatiron Springs about four times a week to train my amazing horse MV Aladdinn Echo.  Right now I'm working hard to improve my hunter equitation and pleasure skills.  My horse and I have been very successful and I owe all of it to my wonderful and patient trainer, Diane Underwood, as well as all of my friends that have become my family at my barn. I am putting in all of my effort to make this year my best yet and I know it will be.
There are many things I want to do to help our region this year. The first and most important thing to me is developing a better connection with all AHA members and especially the kids. So Im announcing that this year be the "Year of the Youth"!  I want to know what you want to see happen so don't be shy I'm always open to comments, questions, advice, or just a friendly chat so please e-mail me at luckylouie2200@aol.com.

Regards,

Barbie Wittenberg
